The Tea House Project
St John's

St John's was approached by St George's Church of England School and invited to take part in the renovation of the old tea house in Woodlands Park. The tea house has been closed for many years and has subsequently been covered wth graffiti and vandalism. The aim of the project is to involve as many students as possible in the renovation and to open the tea house as a going concern by early Summer 2010.

St John's students who are studying Engineering, Art and Creative Media spend each Thursday at the tea house carrying out a scheduled programme of works which will also include the revamp of the "crazy golf" area, art work for the exterior of the tea house and the creation of the Tea House website. Later on in the project our Business students will be involved in setting up the enterpriseand will spend some time working there during opening hours.

We have been very fortunate to secure help and support from a variety of local and national organisations, including Gravesham Volunteer Services who are recruiting volunteers to help run the tea house as a going concern.

This is a very exciting project for our students who will gain invaluable experience in its restoration and operation. If you would like to volunteer any of your time to help run the tea house then please email your interest to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
